Tony Smotherman Since the mid 1990's Tony has spent many miles seated behind a steering wheel in pursuit of the big game. From mid-western whitetails to bruiser elk and mulies in the Rocky Mountains, he can be found every fall with his Knight muzzleloader close at hand. Tony has grown into the epitome of the Travelin' Hunter. He realized early on in his home state of Tennessee that if he was going to be able to match wits with his favorite quarry he would have to fuel up his truck, throw his gear in back, and roll on down the road to where game was more plentiful, similar to the way the Indians and mountain men did ages ago. He is no different than any other hunter out there, come fall, constantly day dreaming, he has his mind set on one thing, rolling with the seasons until there is no season left to hunt and only memories in his rear view mirror. For years Tony hopped from state to state on his own, now as one of the hosts for Knight's Born To Hunt TV that airs on the Outdoor Channel, he rolls with a cameraman seated beside him, from Newfoundland to Wyoming and many of the states in between. Next time you see him at a hunting show, just for kicks, ask him how black flies taste. He will have a grin pop up on his face as big as the great outdoors he loves so much. Beyond his role as the Travelin' Hunter, he has one of the largest outdoor magazines in his home state affectionately titled Tennessee Outdoor News (TON). This labor of love he shares with his wife, Misty, as she is the backbone of his whole existence. They share their home with their two sons that are every bit as enthusiastic about hunting as he is. To be quite honest, he is living a dream, with a job and family that totally revolves around hunting and the outdoors. Ride with Tony as he heads out for the adventures of a lifetime. As the days get shorter, the roads a bit more snow covered, and the tree stands a bit chillier, revel in the sights, sounds, and experiences that he will share with you. It's all about rolling down the road the Travelin' Hunter way! |
