Food Plot Prep

The hunting show last weekend in Memphis, TN was great. It was good to see everyone there and for those of you that stopped by the Knight booth; thank you for the great comments about the Knight Born To Hunt Tv show.

I have been home most of this week and have been getting food plots prepped for planting. I have got most of them cleaned out and turned under for the first time. I am planning on applying the lime tomorrow if the rain holds off. It looks like I will be putting out about three tons on my new food plot and then turning it under and letting it sit for a few weeks before planting the new seed. Down here we normally do not plant before the second week of September. I know that Toby Stay of Eagle Outfitters, www.hunteagle.com, has the plots on my new Illinois farm prepped, fertilized and ready for seed. he starts planting tomorrow and will do shor for the next week. The planting season up in the mid-west is much earlier than here in the south.

Outside that, I am headed back to Memphis, TN this weekend for a Bass Pro Fall Classic. From there i will head home for a few days and then off to the first hunt of the year. I will be chasing lizard skins in New Orleans area. This hunt should rock!!! I heard gator tail tastes alot like chicken!

Getting Geared Up

It is 11pm and I am just now rolling in from my shop. I have been there most of the day getting all my hunting gear lined up for the upcoming season. Knight’s Born To Hunt TV show has joined forces with Leupold Optics for the upcoming season so I was changing out the scopes on my Knight Rifles. I put the new Leupold Ultimate Slam 3-9×40 scope on my KP1 .50 cal. muzzleloader, I put the Leupold VX-L 4.5-14X50 on my .52 caliber Knight Long Range Hunter, I put a Leupold VX-III 3-9X40 on my Knight KP1 .204 varmit gun, and lastly I put another VX-III 3-9X40 on my KP1 30-06. I know that is only four guns, but I am beat after all that. No too mention, I put together four new Summit loc-ons today as well. With all the new smell on the stands I went ahead and hung them up in trees out behind my house to let then air out for awhile. The paint smell on them is quite strong and probably will take a few weeks to air out totally. All in all, it has been a great day, outside of the temps soring near 100 degrees. Even inside my shop the sweat was still pouring pretty good.

Hey man, it is all part of the hunt!
